Eligibility Criteria
The Applied Econometrics and Economic Modelling Master’s Programme is open to applicants holding an undergraduate degree. Applicants are also required to prove their knowledge of the English language.
Two options for AEEM candidates
3 semesters, ECTS: 90
- For applicants holding a Bachelor degree providing 210 ECTS at minimum (4 years of tertiary education)
- No requirements for field of undergraduate studies
- Enrolment: October
- Start of AEEM studies: winter semester
4 semesters, ECTS: 120
- For applicants holding a Bachelor degree providing 180 ECTS at minimum (3 years of tertiary education)
- No requirements for field of undergraduate studies
- Nevertheless, this option is recommended to applicants whose undergraduate major is different from economics, finance and business administration
- Enrolment: February
- Start of AEEM studies: summer semester

- Take the AEEM written and oral exams (specific of this programme only):
- Written exam: consists in writing a research paper in English; the paper should contain theoretical and/or empirical analysis on an economic, business or financial topic selected by the applicant; See detailed instructions here.
- Oral exam: consists of an interview

You could send your CV, research paper and motivation letter to . Application documents will be considered, and interviews will be appointed for the first week of February. Interviews will be held in the FEBA premises or via Skype. Applicants will receive an admission decision within one week after the interview. The admission procedure is finalized formally in due course with an official admission decision issued by Sofia University Rector.

Applicants usually receive an admission decision approximately two weeks after they have applied. The admission procedure is finalized formally at the end of September with an official admission decision issued by Sofia University Rector.

English Language Requirements
In order to successfully participate in the AEEM Master's Programme, knowledge of the English language is required. Any of the following serves to verify this:
- Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE), Advanced (CAE), First (FCE);
- IELTS;
- Oxford Test of English;
- TOEFL IBT / TOEFL CBT;
- A diploma from an English-language high school;
- A diploma from a secondary school with extensive study of the English language;
- An official letter from a university confirming that your previous degree was entirely or partially taught in English;
- A certificate from other specialised institutions providing training in the English language;
- An official letter from an academic institution certifying that you successfully passed an undergraduate or graduate studies entry exam in the English language.
Overall Entry Score and Admission
The overall entry score will be computed using the following components and weights:
- Average of diploma GPA and state exam grades: 15%
- Motivation letter: 15%
- Research paper: 30%
- Interview: 40%
Expected dates for announcing admission decisions: September 24-30, 2022 (check for updates here). Early applications will be assessed informally and applicants will be notified of outcomes approximately two weeks after interviews are held.
Following admission, applicants are required to formally enrol in the Masters Programme by visiting the FEBA Administration Office prior to the official opening of the academic year in October 2022.

Third week of February (for 4-semester studies) / Second week of October (for 3-semester studies)
Tuition Fees
For students newly enrolled for the academic 2022/2023 the tuition fees are as follows (official details in Bulgarian here):
- BGN 2000 (approx. EUR 1023) per semester for self-financed studies (EU, EEA and Swiss students)
